IMO you can’t beat Fort Augustus in the Highlands. (I hardly ever post on here but had to log on to recommend!) We go tomorrow for a week and I can’t wait. It’s a fair drive but so worth it. You can take a boat ride on Loch Ness (speedboat or a tour boat), drive to Ben Nevis and there are some fabulous places to eat. The scenery is truly beautiful and second to none. You can visit Spean Bridge and the monument, there are castles nearby (and within hiking distance – there are many scenic walks), the Nessie centre is okay and there are larger towns nearby you can visit. The Loch flowing through Fort Augustus is beautiful when it is all lit up at night.

      Enjoy wherever you decide!

This has been really helpful, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply.

      @superh
      – what a good idea about the little freezer bags, might steal that one.

Think you’re right about not letting the OH choose the pads, I’m going to get some tonight as I know which type I will be able to tolerate.

Definitely going to do a backup bag with extra nappies and baby grows etc in, just incase I run out of stuff and don’t have enough room in my main bag. Can’t wait to wash all the baby clothes but we are currently awaiting our new washing machine – don’t want to do the washing in our old machine as it’s a bit grubby and I’ve gone all weird about dirt recently!

Great suggestions, thank you! I didn’t even think about a bath sheet, great idea because I hate small towels too.

Ok so big disposable pants… like the tena pants? Having a baby is so glam

Just trying to work out how many nappies to take too. Suppose OH could always bring more if needed if we end up staying. Like the idea of the backup bag, good thinking. Need to get organised now!

      Big granny pants from Primark…

Something to read in case you end up staying in?

      Earplugs.

My LO ‘popped’ out in 5 hours so I never got to use all the waterbirth bikini/nice snacks etc which I had ever so carefully packed, and as he was 3 weeks early none of the clothes I’d brought fitted either lol…

Earplugs! Didn’t think of them but I guess sleeping afterwards is hard. Good shout, thanks.

Off granny knicker shopping this week I think too!

      These are chuffin’ brilliant: https://www.ethicalsuperstore.com/products/vego-good-food/vegolino-vegan-pralines—180g/

Just amazing pralines – no funny business, no weird ingredients, no ‘if you squint really hard it kinda, sorta, tastes a bit like chocolate’ – just quality stuff that easily holds its own against milk containing ones.

I managed to score a good deal on a box (well two….) of their big bars of chocolate. Ended up eating 9kg of chocolate over a few months… Still wanted more at the end of it – if that’s not a recommendation then I don’t know what is.

your probably right about Blair & Brown…But i’m sure the tory’s could subsidise it the same as the SNP have in scotland.

So who is subsidising scotland/the snp? No such thing as a free lunch, or parking. Somebody is paying.
